Yes, Yes, Yes You Still Can File Bankruptcy
in Illinois and in some cases, you can do it cheaper than before!

Many people can now file a Chapter 13 bankruptcy case in Illinois without having to pay any money to credit card or medical debt.  Ask for details!

Things to do and to bring to your first bankruptcy attorney meeting:

1.  Pay advices, a fancy Congressional word for proof of your income over the past 7 months.  This can include your paystubs or a printout from your employer, however, it must contain information about your payroll deductions.

2.  Income tax returns for the past 2 years.  If you do not have these returns you might be able to get copies from your tax preparer.  You can request a transcript of your last 4 years from the Internal Revenue Service.

3.  All your bills, from everyone you owe, including your best friends and your worst enemies.  If you do not have a written statement, make a list of the name, address, account number and amount owed.  A credit report may help you remember who your owe.
4.  If you are required to pay child support or maintenance, bring a copy of the Court Order.

5.  Attorney fees and costs.  See the Appointment page for detailed information.

Additional documents you should bring to your bankruptcy meeting if you have:
